Promoting a Safer Church

As members of this church, we commit ourselves to the nurturing, protection and safekeeping of all, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults.
It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent the physical, sexual and emotional abuse of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and to report any abuse discovered or suspected.
We recognise that our work with children, young people and vulnerable adults is the responsibility of the whole church.
We undertake to exercise proper care in the selection and appointment of those working with children, young people and vulnerable adults, whether paid or volunteers.
The church is committed to supporting, resourcing, and training those who work with children, young people and vulnerable adults, and to providing supervision.
Each worker with children, young people and vulnerable adults will know the recommendations contained in the church's policy and procedures and will undertake to observe them. Each shall be given a copy of the church's agreed procedures and good practice guidelines.

As part of our commitment to children, young people and vulnerable adults, the church has appointed Mrs Sandra Lemming as Child Protection Officer and Mrs Sue Strangeway as Deputy Child Protection Officer.

The Child Protection and Deputy Child Protection Officer's roles are:

to be the central point of contact for any child protection concerns raised within the church: he/she is the person that children's, young people's workers, vulnerable adults can turn to if they have any concerns about a child or young person in their care or about the behaviour of one of their fellow-workers.
to be the person that children know they can speak to if they have a concern about any child protection matter, although we recognise that children will often turn to the person, they most trust in such situations.
to speak up for the children, young people and vulnerable adults so that they have an independent voice in the life of our church.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilet in the main entrance.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our worship team. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We also share Communion during the service for all who know and love Jesus. There is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.
